Amla (Indian Gooseberry) is packed with many health benefits like improving eye sight, aids digestion, boosting immunity, detoxifying and many more. According to Ayurveda Amla has 5 tastes i.e, Sour, Sweet, Bitter, Astringent, Spice. Our recipe of Amla chatni will include salt as well to complete the 6 tastes to cherish. Here we go with the Amla chunti recipe:
Ingredients:
- 10-15 Indian Gooseberries (Amla) – Grated
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tbsp asafoetida
- 1 tbsp turmeric powder
- 3-4 green chilies – chopped
- 1 tbsp methi (fenugreek seeds) – lightly roasted and ground
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 tbsp sugar
Method:
- Heat the oil in a pan on lower flame, add mustard seeds allow them to pop.
- Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, green chilies and fenugreek powder (Roasted and ground) in a quick succession and turn of the flame within 30 secs.
- Add the grated amla and stir it with adding salt to taste and sugar. Allow it to cool and then refrigerate up to a month.
This chutni can be served with plain hot rice with ghee, rice and sambhar, etc.
